Please join us in the BACKYARD at Unnameable Books in Prospect Heights for a SPRINGY/BALMY evening of writers reading their writing out loud in front of a listening group of people (who may or may not be "writers") and then hanging out for a while after doing important things like goofing, star-gazing, and discussing the arts.

Kindly bring your own soft and hard beverages.

Here are very short biographies of the fantastic reading writers:

JOSHUA HENKIN is the author of the novels MATRIMONY, a New York Times Notable Book, and SWIMMING ACROSS THE HUDSON, a Los Angeles Times Notable Book. His new novel, THE WORLD WITHOUT YOU, has just been released in paperback from Vintage Books. It has been named an Editors' Choice Book by The New York Times and The Chicago Tribune and is the winner of the 2012 Edward Lewis Wallant Award for Jewish American Fiction and a finalist for the 2012 National Jewish Book Award. His short stories have been published widely, cited for distinction in Best American Short Stories, and broadcast on NPR's "Selected Shorts." He lives in Brooklyn, NY, and directs the MFA program in Fiction Writing at Brooklyn College.

SHELLY ORIA was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Israel. Her fiction has appeared in McSweeney’s, Quarterly West, cream city review, and fivechapters among other places, and won the 2008 Indiana Review Fiction Prize among other awards. Shelly curates the series Sweet! Actors Reading Writers in the East Village and teaches fiction at Gotham Writers' Workshop and Pratt Institute as well as privately. She was a MacDowell Fellow in 2012 and is represented by Janklow & Nesbit Associates.

MATT NELSON is the co-founder of Mellow Pages Library, an independently-run library & reading room located in Brooklyn, NY focusing on providing limited-print fiction and poetry to the neighborhoods of Bushwick, East Williamsburg and Bed-Stuy. He's also a writer.

KATE WHEELER is from North Carolina. Her work has appeared in Electric Literature's 'Recommended Reading.' She has: amazing friends; a red wooden arrow from the fence around the Coney Island Cyclone; a tattoo of a streetlamp. She lives in Brooklyn.

We will love to see you there.
