CATCH THE BUZZ!

Join Brooklyn Grange and Rippers for bees, beach, beers, and a bountiful bazaar of bee-related ediBles and baubles.

Urban beekeepers, artists, performers, restaurateurs, and vendors share their wares, all inspired by or featuring various hive products: honey, beeswax, bee pollen, propolis. Learn about the wonders of the honeybee, taste local beekeepers’ honeys, help with a honey extraction, indulge in honey-infused beer, participate in kids’ activities, sample menu items prepared with honey, and partake of other fun for the whole family.

In 2013, NYC Honey Fest has a dual mission: 1/ spread awareness about and appreciation for the honeybee, as well as 2/ help with the restoration of The Rockaways after the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. Proceeds from the raffle — featuring donated bee products, restaurant gift certificates, beekeeping classes, plus other prizes — will benefit the Graybeards, a local nonprofit committed to Rockaway relief through community service, fundraising, and social events that knit a tighter neighborhood.

Activities (so far) include:
• Hands-on honey extraction demo
• Observation hives for the whole family
• Honey tastings and honey-tasting contest
• Mural-painting for kids
• Raffle benefitting The Graybeards

Free to the public
Accessible by A train (Beach 90 St station)
