Liz Magic Laser now extends her ongoing project, “The Living Newspaper”, by turning the theater audience into a live focus group that will reflect on the public reception of news media. Laser will recruit members of the audience to participate in interviews set in a television news studio on stage. The proceedings will be filmed, altered with live green screen effects and simultaneously projected in real time. Culling from a long list of therapeutic, market research, and agitprop theater techniques, Laser produces an environment in which audience members become participants in an ongoing study that interprets current events.
