“An inspirational and insurrectional carnival of great style, sassiness and subversion.” — filmmaker John Greyson

MIX NYC presents the 26th New York Queer Experimental Film Festival with over 225 short films, features, art installations and live performances—made by or for lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender, and queer people—along with galleries and gathering spaces open free to the public. This year’s MIX Festival promises to be an interactive & experiential wonderland—yours for the making—filled with mind-bending art and friendly crowds in a warehouse transformed by local artists.

MIX 26 presents radical work and gives you the opportunity to make a radical experiment of yourself. Join inclusive folks and celebrate queerness with 19 film programs, sweetened by 5 live performances and 19 art installations on view throughout the week. Closing night’s feature, the New York Premiere of Michelle Tea & Hilary Goldberg’s Valencia: The Movie/s, made by 20 filmmakers, captivates with its high energy and collaborative mindset, and matches the Brooklyn artist-made DIY venue design plastering every square inch of the cavernous warehouse venue. Wednesday night’s Exploding Lineage dominates the line-up with experimental shorts by queer people of color, and Saturday’s It’s Going to Be a Humpy Night takes porn made by all different kinds of queers and puts it together on one screen. After official shows finish up, festival guests rally in the colorful and comfy MIX Lounge, where they’re free to mingle with artists, meet new friends, and plot the end of oppression everywhere. If you’re out of sick days, call in queer – the MIX celebration goes late every night.
