After a year in the making, Marc Arthur’s new large-scale performance investigates perception, loss and the nature of violence through live painting.

This cross-disciplinary performance combines dance, theater, painting and sculpture into a visually and conceptually rigorous hour-long experience. Using visceral materials like latex, and fiber four performers will create three large paintings while extensive choreography, text and music guide their actions. Each performer experiences a unique catharsis that involves live doves and paint as body fluid. The performance then lives on as a permanent art work when the paint dries. This non-narrative piece builds on structures created by Merce Cunningham and is rooted in techniques perfected by theater and visual artists alike, including The Wooster Group, Richard Forman, Robert Wilson, the Viennese Actionists and the Abstract Expressionists.
