AMY SILLMAN’s paintings, drawings, and animations activate diverse procedures and forms – moving freely and engaging between figuration and abstraction, using both language and image, a sense of humor and seriousness. Her talk will examine drawing personally, an act as she practices it: a fluid and open-ended material process of experimentation, negotiation and transformation. Her work has been shown regularly for the past two decades throughout the US and, more recently, Europe. A mid-career survey, “one lump or two,” will be up at The Aspen Art Museum and The Hessel Museum at Bard College in Spring 2014. Sillman teaches at Bard College’s MFA Program is Co-Chair of the Painting Department.
