On January 4th, Impulse Pittsburgh will be partnering with AIDS/LifeCycle to raise HIV/AIDS awareness and funds for ALC2014.
What is AIDS/LifeCycle?
The AIDS/LifeCycle 2014 ride is a 545-mile bicycle ride from San Francisco, CA to Los Angeles, CA that occurs over 7 days. Approximately 2500-3000 riders and volunteers create a moving city down the coast to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS.
The goals of the ride are to raise awareness, as well as funds to support HIV/AIDS services of the LA Gay and Lesbian Center and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Both of these foundations are some of the largest of their kind. Although they are based in California and benefit directly from the funds raised, because of their size and what they are able to accomplish, they are used as world-wide models and train other facilities across the US and the world in regards to HIV/AIDS, thereby making funding them a true global initiative. Teams from all over the world participate in AIDS/LifeCycle. On Team Goodiness alone, we currently represent 8 states and 9 countries, including Cuba, England, Germany, Spain, Italy, Russia, Holland, the US, and Australia.
How can you participate?
1. Show up to Impulse Pittsburgh’s January 4th, 2014 mustache-themed event at Cavo in the Strip District.
2. While there, buy a self-adhesive mustache or a temporary mustache tattoo for $1 – all proceeds benefit ALC2014.
3. Buy raffle tickets for multiple drawings throughout the night. Prizes include:
a. Moustache-themed prizes such as suspenders, rings, earrings, bracelets, and hats
b. Signed DVDs of the hot, sexy, lesbian hit film about life and true love, Elena Undone – signed by the wonderful Traci Dinwiddie who portrays Peyton in the film and is also the captain of Team Goodisness.
c. A gift basket from Square Café
d. A pair of snow-tubing passes from Seven Springs
e. And more …
You will put your name and phone number on the raffle ticket, and then we will call you if you’re a winner to get your address. We will then either drop off or mail your prize!

About the Venue
This month, we’re going back to Cavo. Definitely our favorite venue- it’s a gorgeous club and woman-owned! The whole place feels like a giant movie set, with gothic leather couches and a second floor overlooking everything below. There’s even some erotic lesbian artwork hanging up on the walls.
There is also a huge wrap-around bar and huge dance floor. Half the place is set up to be for mingling- so a few couches and tables. The other half is all dance floor.
In the past we’ve had success with fast drink service here!
Drink Specials
$3 Domestic and Well drinks from 9PM-2AM
Ways to Mingle if you’re Single
We will be offering two bracelets, you can take one, both, or none.
Orange- Means you are single and looking
Blue- Means you are interested in hooking-up/close-dancing/flirting in a more risque way.
Safety…
You guys know the drill Just keep it safe and friendly! No fighting, threats, drugs, etc. We promise to work hard for you to make every Impulse an experience to remember so we can continue to be the largest and safest LGBTQ Women’s event in the Western PA region. We do offer security at all of our events just to make sure everyone is safe!
Thank you for your participation, Queer Community of Pittsburgh!
