Impulse Pittsburgh Presents: Dinah Shore Dance Party

The last Impulse event had 400 people taking over Tilden and 941 Saloon in the downtown area. For March, we have a very special theme related to the largest girl party festival in the world, Dinah Shore, with some very special giveaways!

Cost to get in the door: $5
Parking: There is parking at the lot on Federal street for only $5 the entire night or street parking
Age: 21+ only due to Bar Rules and Regulations

We will be on both levels of this venue– we’re going to ask them to keep the top floor open as a quieter conversation area- plus it’s a blast people watching the dance floor from the upper level!

Theme and Venue

Mullens is one of our largest venues that can easily fit 700+ people, especially with the addition of the upstairs area that allows you to people-watch the downstairs. The staff is wonderful, and we’ve had one of the longest ongoing relationships with them in Impulse history. The atmosphere is amazing here!

This month, we’re celebrating a Dinah Shore Takeover.

Who is Dinah Shore?

Dinah Shore was an American singer, actress, television personality, and the top-charting female vocalist of the 1940s. Dinah was also a keen golfer, and started a large tournament in 1972, putting her name and money into the then grossly underfunded LPGA, when female golfers earned a pittance in comparison to the men and were rarely covered on TV. Because Shore was a big Hollywood name, she was able to get friends in the business to give their support, and the event took off as her presence attracted all-important sponsors. She also attracted women, despite not being gay herself, although the lesbian nation likes to claim her as a sister.

What is Dinah Shore?

Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend, popularly known as “The Dinah”, is a five-day weekend getaway and music festival catering to the lesbian community that takes place annually in Palm Springs, California in the United States. It is considered the largest lesbian event in the United States and the world. Held each spring, the event offers a series of pool parties, night entertainment, live concerts by Top Ten Billboard recording artists, comedy shows, sport-games and social networking opportunities.

The Dinah Shore has been featured on The L Word, The Real L Word, etc!

What will happen at Impulse?

Here at Impulse, we fully believe there is no reason we can’t party as hard as the West Coast. When you arrive, we will be providing leis to the first 150-200 people. We’ll also be doing the limbo and other beach-related activities.

We will also be mixing in the regular Impulse activities: Singles Bracelets, Dancing, Drink Specials, etc.

At midnight, we will have a drawing for those interested for a chance to win free passes to the Friday Night event at the actual Dinah Shore event in Palm Springs, CA for you and a friend! This Friday night event is called the White Party, and it is the largest night-time event for women on the planet.

For a chance to win, just look for our little table, write your name on the ticket, and we’ll draw a winner at 12AM sharp! The winner will also get one meet and greet with some of the Dinah Shore Celebrities (Fortune Feimster, Iggy Azalea, Kate Moennig, and Leisha Haley) for up to 2 people.

Raffle Contest!!

In addition to winning free tickets to the Friday night party at Dinah Shore, you can also participate in the $1 raffle contest and win other amazing prizes like gift cards, gift baskets, and a year free of Impulse admission!! Plus, you’ll be supporting an amazing organization!

This month, Garden of Peace will be joining us to sell $1 raffles to fundraise for their charity!

Some Event Logistics

There is no coat check at this bar. However, the venue is so huge that people were leaving them on chairs in the corners. But it’s at your own risk!

There will be NO smoking anywhere in the bar- you have to smoke outside on their little patio area.

Women are welcome to use the boys’ room- The owners have no problem with this and are opening both bathrooms for us.

There are bathrooms upstairs and downstairs to avoid long wait times.

There is potentially a whole other bar upstairs where you can avoid the crowds, but I’ll get back to you on this!

Music

DJ Steph and DJ Nia will be taking over the beats and playing your favorite dance music with a few surprise past-decade songs thrown in! See them at the DJ booth if you have any requests.

We will be offering two bracelets, you can take one, both, or none.

Orange- Means you are single and looking

Blue- Means you are interested in hooking-up/close-dancing/flirting in a more risque way.

No fighting, threats, drugs, etc. We promise to work hard for you to make every Impulse an experience to remember so we can continue to be the largest and safest LGBTQ Women’s event in the Western PA region. We do offer security at all of our events just to make sure everyone is safe!
