In this night of films, Katherine Bauer will be showing her 16mm work from 2007 – 2012 that is being housed at the Film-Makers’ Cooperative. Most of the films will be screened in the original color reversal and were hand processed.
The films selected for this screening have been organized in two parts. The first part of the show, Furies, features short films, many shot using in camera editing on 100′ daylight spools. They depict the conjoined fates of civilization, wilderness, and desire, fading into one another, where the familiar transforms into the bizarre and the bizarre is brought close again in a momentary flash of recognition.
The second part of the show, Crystallus, includes a selection of four phases in three parts from the continuous apocalyptic sci-fi horror epic of the same name that depict formations of narrative and chemical structure layering on top of and transforming upon one another.
The total run time of the screening is 77 minutes, with a break between sections.
