LIVE LAUNCH of ON-LINE works from Melissa Ragona’s Art Writer seminar to occur at Tan A. Lin’s Environmental Reading with Perfume, Soundtrack, Tweet Mirror, and the Joy of Cooking. TEXT, SOUND, and IMAGE-BASED works by artists and scholars across the disciplines of Art, Computer Science, English, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Engineering and Robotics. Informed by models of translation, i.e. the homophonic texts of Charles Bernstein, the transcriptions/transpositions of Andy Warhol, Tan Lin, Kenneth Goldsmith, Fiona Templeton, Christian Bök, Caroline Bergvall (to name a few) and earlier experiments, such as Alain Arias-Misson’s Public Poem (1965) and Raymound Queneau’s Cent mille milliards de poèmes (A Hundred Thousand Billion Poems) (1961), AFFECT.TXT enacts spins on reading comprehension, gaming, pulp adventure novels, cooking recipes, Mechanical Turk tasks, Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina, record collections, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, NASA and much more.
