Film shoot/hang sesh- invite your friends, come
You are invited to participate in the film ‘A Pack of Cigarettes’ developed and directed by Olimpia Dior and curated by Crichton Atkinson.
The film is an anthropological document for future generations. In our lifetime we have witnessed the birth of a new taboo- the cigarette.
Is this a movement towards a healthy body and a happier life, or is it a movement away from free time, away from the masochism that completes the wheel of free choice, pleasure in the moment at the risk of everything?
People behind cigarettes. Portraits. Each cigarette belongs to someone.
According to Wikipedia a psychoactive chemical in tobacco, and therefore cigarettes, is addictive. About half of cigarette smokers die of tobacco-related disease and lose on average 14 years of life.
‘A Pack of Cigarettes’ is intended to be shown in galleries and museums.
There will be a model release form on the day of the shoot.
Filming will take place on September 7th at 236 Moore St. from 11AM until 8PM, there will be drinks, snacks, and special treats. If you can’t make the whole day you can come for just two hours, though we hope to create a relaxed event with a group of people. When was the last time that you spent a day carelessly hanging out with your friends? Bring a friend with you, relax, have a cigarette.
Dress your best or wear whatever you choose.
You cant go wrong -just because you are invited to participate in this project means you are interesting and good looking and have sophisticated taste.
What romance do you equate with yourself that a cigarette can help reveal?
How can we just watch you smoking, being simple? What can you represent or not represent? What does it mean to show, to really allow someone to watch you- watching is all we ever want to do anyway, to be revealed by watching, by being watched and watching others, to be seen with our guard down or with our guard up, just watched, just watching, revealed in the stillness that film knows so well.
Filming.
You will be asked to smoke 1-3 cigarettes depending how you feel about it.
You can hang out and have a drink and let us film you when you are reedy/in the mood to smoke.
You can choose your behavior in the video:
- be lost in your thoughts,relax meditate…
- look straight into the camera as if it was someone keeping you company
- talk to yourself
